This quarter, Rotarians of the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County (RCEMC) are focusing on supporting education and literacy. As part of that initiative, fellow Rotarian and Splendora ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Burke was the guest speaker at the August 18th RCEMC meeting. Dr. Burke leads Splendora ISD with a current student enrollment of 4,269 and 641 employees. Students began the new school year on Wednesday, August 11.

Dr. Burke brought his campus principals Dr. Rob Davis, Duana Brashear, Heath Lucas, Carrie Garza, Kent Broussard, Sheree Walker; Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tami Greggerson; and Education Foundation Liaison Sheila Unterreiner to the luncheon and recognized their amazing dedication to Splendora ISD. Burke spoke about the District’s community-based accountability system, its strategic direction, and future growth.

RCEMC showed their appreciation for Dr. Burke speaking by donating the book, “Turning Pages” by Sonia Sotomayor, in his honor. This book and the books already collected this year were presented to Carrie Garza, Timber Lakes Elementary School Principal. Garza was excited to take the books back to her campus for her students to enjoy.
