Professor Becky Norton, Lone Star College-Kingwood Department of Nursing was the guest speaker at the weekly Rotary Club of East Montgomery County (RCEMC) luncheon. Professor Norton listed the most important actions Rotarians could do to protect themselves against COVID-19 as well as preventing the spread of everyday illnesses like the common cold or the flu:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

RCEMC President Milton Austin thanked Professor Norton for presenting this valuable information and presented her a book that will be donated to the R.B. Tullis Library in her honor.
