The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County had the pleasure of hearing from Matt Calvert, Superintendent of New Caney ISD, at its September 16 luncheon.
Mr. Calvert, who has served as superintendent since 2021, shared insights from his leadership journey and provided an overview of New Caney ISD’s growth, challenges, and future plans. His presentation highlighted the district’s commitment to strategic planning and capital improvements designed to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding student population.
Before becoming superintendent, Mr. Calvert served New Caney ISD as deputy superintendent and executive director of finance. His career in education began in 2004, when he started as a science teacher and coach. Over the years, he advanced through multiple leadership roles, including elementary assistant principal, elementary lead principal, and assistant superintendent of business and financial services. His strong background in both instruction and finance has been instrumental in guiding New Caney ISD through a period of unprecedented enrollment growth and organizational change.
We thank Mr. Calvert for taking the time to share his knowledge and vision with our members and community. His leadership and dedication to education are helping to shape the future of East Montgomery County.
