The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County welcomed a distinguished guest at their April 1st luncheon: Julie Martineau, President and CEO of the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF). Martineau, who has dedicated her career to philanthropy and community development, shared insights about MCCF’s mission and impact. Established in 1983 by Reverend Don Gebert and George Mitchell, the Foundation was created to build a permanent fund that ensures the present and future well-being of Montgomery County. MCCF achieves this by facilitating charitable giving and helping donors establish lasting legacies that benefit the local community.
During her speech, Martineau emphasized the importance of strategic philanthropy, noting how MCCF provides local donors with both simplicity and flexibility in their giving. She also highlighted the role of the Foundation’s board, which is composed of private citizens who represent the diverse interests of Montgomery County. Through this governance structure, MCCF ensures that resources are allocated effectively to meet the community's evolving needs.
Martineau’s extensive service to Montgomery County has not gone unnoticed. The Rotary Club of The Woodlands recently honored her for her many years of dedicated service. The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County will donate a library book in Martineau’s honor to a local school, reinforcing the values of education and literacy that align with Rotary’s mission.
The luncheon served as both an educational and inspirational gathering, reminding attendees of the power of philanthropy and the enduring impact of community service. Martineau’s leadership at MCCF continues to shape a brighter future for Montgomery County, ensuring that charitable giving remains a cornerstone of the region’s growth and well-being.
