The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County recently enjoyed an engaging and informative luncheon featuring guest speaker Kris Linberk, Community Outreach Programs Manager for Harris County Precinct 3.
Linberk provided an overview of Precinct 3’s extensive parks system, with special focus on several northern parks that border Montgomery County, including Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center and John Pundt Park. These parks serve as vital community spaces that connect residents to nature, recreation, and educational opportunities.
Precinct 3 features 73 parks, including two signature destinations—Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center and Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens. Linberk highlighted the wide variety of amenities available throughout the parks system, such as trails, playgrounds, sports fields, dog parks, and more—offering something for residents of all ages and interests.
In addition to outdoor recreation and family-friendly spaces, Linberk shared information about the many nature-based programs available, including fishing opportunities, guided nature walks, and hands-on activities like woodworking. These programs reflect Precinct 3’s commitment to education, conservation, and community engagement.
Linberk’s presentation reinforced the importance of partnerships between civic organizations and local leaders in enhancing the quality of life across the region. Rotary members appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the parks and programs available just beyond their community.
