What a fun way to kick off 2023! The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County (RCEMC) members gathered for their first meeting of the new year. Members enjoyed fellowship, distributed library books, learned about the market, and celebrated January birthdays!

Over the past year, Rotary luncheon speakers were thanked by having a book donated to a local elementary school library in their honor. It was time to hand the books to Timber Lakes Elementary (TLE) School in the Splendora Independent School District. TLE Principal Dawn Jackson and TLE librarian Amanda Faulkner attended the luncheon and were pleased to receive the 30 books collected over the past year.

Next up was prospective Rotary member John Burgess, an Edward Jones financial advisor. In addition to learning more about a potential member (Burgess was a former chef), the financial advisor provided much-needed insight into the financial market. To thank him for speaking, RCEMC President Suann Hereford presented Burgess with the book “A Fine Dessert” by Emily Jenkins and Sophie Blackall. RCEMC will donate this book to a local elementary school in his honor.

The luncheon ended with cake! Rotary members with January birthdays were celebrated. What a way to begin the year!
