What an incredible luncheon! The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County (EMC) hosted a bustling event, teeming with excitement. Perhaps the buzz was fueled by the induction of five new members or the presence of the esteemed guest speaker, former NFL quarterback Dan Pastorini. Regardless, it was an unforgettable gathering.

Dan Pastorini and President Danell Fields

Kicking off the proceedings, Rotary Club EMC President Danell Fields graciously extended a warm welcome to members and guests, delving into the recent impactful endeavors of the Rotarians. These included their active involvement in the Splendora ISD’s Education Foundation Men Who Cook initiative and the Mission Northeast service project. Following this, the floor was handed over to the esteemed Past District Governor (PDG) Dr. Rose Austin, who ceremoniously initiated five new members into the Club: Vicki Thornton, Precinct 4 Judge Jason Dunn, Dr. Shane Conklin, Deana Eubanks, and Jonathon Smith, marking a significant milestone for the club's growth.

Subsequently, President Fields introduced the charismatic guest speaker, Dan Pastorini, renowned for his impressive 13-season career, predominantly with the Houston Oilers. During his engaging talk, Pastorini reminisced about his playing days under Coach Bum Phillips, highlighting the enduring bonds he forged with his teammates, many of which persist to this day. Beyond football, Pastorini's multifaceted life has included endeavors such as hydroplane racing, drag car racing, acting in several movies, and authoring the book "Taking Flak, Life in the Fast Lane."

Presently, Pastorini remains deeply involved with Dan Pastorini’s Quality Foods, where he curates rubs and seasonings, alongside his impactful charity work. Notably, his annual Dan Pastorini Celebrity Golf Invitational serves as a significant support for the Be An Angel Foundation, an organization close to Pastorini's heart, for which he serves as Chairman. The foundation's commendable work revolves around assisting profoundly deaf children and families, providing essential support for numerous children with disabilities.
