The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County (RCEMC) has resumed many of its activities. Over the past three weeks, members have enjoyed hearing from some dynamic speakers and started planning ways to help within the community and the world. Speakers Kevin Gainer of Performance Foot Orthotics;  Nutritionist Dr. Charles Campbell; and Past District Governor, current rotary member, and now author Dr. Rose Austin informed RCEMC members. The Club also sent 750 cotton t-shirts to be shipped to a Rotary Club in Nicaragua where they will be made into baby diapers, and will be gearing up for an underwear drive.

On October 6, Kevin Gainer of Performance Foot Orthotics spoke with members both present and virtually about orthotics.  A licensed pedorthist, Gainer oversees the production and creation of all Performance Orthotics Lab orthotics. He works to make sure each practitioner he partners with receives professional understanding and quality products. On October 13, Dr. Charles Campbell informed members about numerous ways to boost your immune system to combat Coronavirus. On October 20, current member and Past District Governor Dr. Rose Austin reviewed her book Portraits of the Past. In the book, Dr. Austin chronicles the journey of her family from slavery through the Jim Crow South, the Civil Rights Movement, to current day. RCEMC Secretary Dr. Suann Hereford recently delivered 750 cotton t-shirts to be shipped to a Rotary Club in Nicaragua where they will be made into baby diapers.  This is a year round international project for the club.

Additionally, RCEMC members are gearing up for an underwear drive to help local elementary schools whose students need the necessities.
